Jaime L. Dawes

Ms. Dawes graduated summa cum laude from the University of New Mexico School of Law in 2003. After graduation, she served as a law clerk for the Honorable Harris L. Hartz of the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. She then began her private practice at Sheehan, Sheehan, & Stelzner, P.A. She has been a Shareholder/Director of the Stelzner Firm since it was created in 2010.

Ms. Dawes routinely advises and provides legal opinions to government entities including the Albuquerque Bernalillo County Water Utility Authority, the Village of Los Ranchos, and the Jicarilla Apache Nation on a variety of complex issues, including for example, compliance with state and federal statutes, constitutional issues, construction of contracts, employment matters, questions of jurisdiction, and zoning issues. She has experience drafting policies, resolutions, and ordinances, and in negotiating and reviewing contracts, such as lease agreements, power purchase agreements, commercial real estate agreements, professional service agreements, asset purchase agreements, settlement agreements, deferral agreements, notes, and mortgages.

Ms. Dawes also has a varied litigation practice, including commercial litigation, labor and employment, insurance coverage and bad faith, contract disputes, water rights, product liability, sexual abuse, prescription drugs, personal injury, construction, procurement, eminent domain, and real estate disputes.
